Whether you’re a coach, consultant or small business owner, it is absolutely necessary to create systems to organize your business. From developing your services, handling your the day-to-day operations to servicing your clients — it is a MUST that you organize with processes and systems!

Creating process maps and systems will kick your profits into high gear and allow you to leverage your skills, experience and knowledge in an expanded way. Think about the things you do over and over again and how easy it will be to turn it into a few steps and then a process.

Think about how you service clients or what you do before meeting with a prospect and turn it into a step or process.

Over the years of managing multiple projects, here are two tips that I swear by:

It is the American dream to own your own business. The number of people that will start a small business or home business is staggering. Starting your own business is a big step to take and can be very scary. Fear of failure is one of the biggest reasons that hold people back from quitting their job and starting a small business.

Many feel confident when starting business when they purchase a franchise. Franchises have systems in place that are tried and tested. They have a proven track record and therefore people think that there is less likelihood of failing. All they have to do is follow the system and success. All too often success is not achieved.

Franchises are very costly to purchase. Then after the initial purchase of the franchise, there is monthly franchise and mandatory advertising costs that have to be paid. These are paid whether you are turning a net profit or not. Advertising fees are paid even if the advertising dollars are not spent in your area or benefiting your business.

It’s hard to come across an adult who hasn’t heard of or been offered a NuSkin MLM business opportunity. This massive multilevel marketing company celebrates 25 years in business in 2009 which says volumes about it’s legitimacy as an MLM company. But when you think about it– is the company’s success really any indication that you will succeed as their distributor?

The Company

The company now known as NuSkin Enterprises was initially called Nu Skin International in 1984 when it was founded. After growing big enough in the US, it expanded its operations into Canada in 1990 and was soon available in other countries around the world. But the company has had it’s share of highs and lows. In 1997, the company agreed to pay a $1.5 million civil penalty to settle FTC charges over that claims that it’s supplements containing chromium picolinate and L-carnitine resulted in muscle-maintenance and fat-loss were unsubstantiated. It’s an incident that was almost forgotten when the company reported it’s largest revenue year in 2008 with over $1.25 billion in revenue in 48 international markets. Herbalife International is one of the giants of MLM from back in the day when an MLM business meant knocking on doors instead of going online. It’s grown immensely in its 25 or so years of existence, but it has also acquired a disturbingly long list of controversies which a change in management hasn’t quite been able to offset. Despite it’s efforts to address certain troublesome issues, quite frankly, I’d be a more than a little hesitant about signing up with Herbalife if only because it’s been around so long that it will be difficult to convince people to sign up for it, but that’s just my opinion.

The Company

Herbalife was founded by Mark Hughes, who died at age 44, in 2000. It was then acquired in 2002 by Whitney and Co LLC and Golden Gate Capital for $685 million USD. On December 16, 2004, Herbalife International went public on the NYSE with 14,500,000 common shares at $14/share. Net sales for 2004 were reported at USD 1.3 billion. Efusjon is an MLM business opportunity that markets energy drinks like RAW and EDGE. The products available to their distributors have ingredients like Acai berry and caffeine and are packaged to appeal to a younger market. It’s sold in a can like soda, with edgy colors and designs. It appears to be hip.

The Company

Co-founded by Robert Towles, R.S. Edwards, Marc Sharpe, and Kenny Gilmore, Efusjon is one of the few MLM business opportunities that is really leveraging the marketing power of the Internet to make a huge initial impact on social networking sites. That’s not surprising if you consider that the real marketing genius behind Efusjon’s rise is Derek Broes, a former Sr. Executive at Microsoft, and CEO of Kazaa. He obviously knows how to leverage the Internet for all it’s worth. Continue reading ‘Efusjon MLM Business Reviewed’ »

One of the most widely known MLM business opportunities you’ll find today is Xango. It is marketed as a dietary supplement that highlights the beneficial effects of the Mangosteen fruit. With over 100,000 distributors and international operations that have gone beyond the US to Canada, Mexico, Japan, Germany and Malaysia, Xango has been able to sustain its growth despite some persistent concerns about how it is marketed.

The Company

The company that owns and distributes Xango is a privately run business based in Utah called Xango LLC, founded by Joe Morton. Over the years, Xango LLC has expanded its product line as it now includes, among other things, a Gel Cleanser, a Serum, a Toner, a Moisturizing cream and a lotion – all of which are derived in some way from Mangosteen.
