As an ex-pact of South Africa, now residing in Australia, I have come to the conclusion that communication can cause a lot of confusion. I run a business from home and in the process market the business concept to others who may very well be interested in working from home as well. I also market a few additional products that I feel enhances the way people live their lives on an emotional and physical level.
It is during these business endeavors that I get to meet a lot of different people each and every day. And if you have not been in Australia recently, you may not know just how diverse the English language is spoken. Australia has seen a huge migration level over the last couple of years. And each migrant brings with him or her, his own native language as well as the English word spoken with an accent. It all seems innocent enough. If all of us are speaking English then there should not be any communication problems. That however is far from the reality of the situation. Continue reading ‘COMMUNICATION WITH CONFUSION’ »

“Change is not made without inconvenience, even from worse to better.†– Richard Hooker
I couldn’t have said it better myself! As you know, I’m all for making changes to better our lives and businesses, but I have to admit that in the past 2 weeks my tolerance levels have been sorely tested. I’ve had to relearn patience skills and there were times that I’m sure my perseverance quotient on a scale of 1 to 10 was at -20.
I’ve been restructuring my business to better reflect the needs and desires of my valued clients. Consequently I’ve spent the last few weeks going over new designs, changing my website content, and doing a complete overhaul of my collateral. After jumping more hurdles than a sprinter at the Olympic Games, last week I finally hit the ‘wall.’ Nothing seemed to be working properly on my site and I found myself getting totally frustrated from juggling too many balls and putting out fires. At one point I even wondered why I was going through all this agony. I was not so lovingly reminded that change is great, but it definitely takes perseverance and patience to implement something new into your life. Continue reading ‘Want Change? Unity is the most important element of success when it comes to businesses and corporations. Without a unified system of communicating with one another, the entire system can falter in one way or another. On the other hand, sufficient connectivity in terms of communication, messaging, and data organization can make the corporation soar to bright horizon. This is the reason why colocation hosting is very important among companies.
Establishing one’s very own connectivity and internet structure requires months of planning, assembling personnel, and managing tons of expenses. Leaving the entire project to an unskilled mind can mean great loss to the entire company. The best way to make the entire company unified is to leave the job behind to the best and most reliable service providers. If you want to unify your company right away, leave the job to a provider of colocation services and managed infrastructure. Do you think communication is mostly done through words? What if you found out that communication is actually 70% non-verbal? That means it’s your body language including your movements, eyes and even hands that say things more often and louder than your mouth. The ability to communicate with clarity and effectiveness is an imperative skill for organizational leaders. Here are important ways to make your communication more productive and effective.
1. Provide clear information
Passing information from one person to the next is the purpose of workplace communication. If your communication isn’t complete and accurate, it can cause confusion instead of clarity. Carefully plan your communication to be sure you are passing along the correct information and the right amount so those you are communicating with understand what you want to say.
2. Communicate honestly
People know when something isn’t adding up. If you try to communicate something that isn’t totally true and honest it will eventually be revealed. It’s difficult to maintain dishonest communication in the workplace (or anywhere else) because it gets too complicated to hold all of the stories together. Instead of saying things that aren’t totally true, just say less. Speak the truth and leave the rest for later or don’t say it at all if it’s not true and honest.
