At a time when most industrialists have expressed reservations about opening up new units in West Bengal (WB), entrepreneurs belonging to the toy industry are still optimistic of doing business in the region. The immense growth potential for the toy manufacturers in the eastern region, coupled with the consistent government attempts made over the last few years to give this sector a leg-up have been prompting several SME toy manufacturers to set up factories in WB.
The rising interest shown by investors as well as SME businesses to set up toys manufacturing units in WB has brought a ray of hope to the existing industry players in these troubled times.
Boost to toy industry
The high demand for toys, ample opportunities and the vacuum created due to the imposition of restrictions on the import of Chinese toys have made the toy business lucrative. It is all the more attractive for small players in WB since there is immense growth potential in the toy business. Continue reading ‘WB Small Entrepreneurs Still Game for Toy Business’ »

Procurement as we all know plays a very important role in the overall functioning of a business enterprise. Procurement can prove to be a vital thing when it comes to determining the profitability of a particular venture or business activity. In recent times, b2b procurement or business to business procurement has emerged as a hot topic. With competition getting stiffer and stiffer, the pressure of keeping the cost of goods sold at bare minimum is getting bigger, with every passing day. Neckties are basically fabric that is specifically designed to adorn a man’s neck. Most of the time, they are tucked under a shirt collar and are then tied into a knot just below a man’s throat. They are frequently donned as part of a dress code or as formal wear.
These custom made pieces of fashion can either be bow, or straight neckties. Bow ties are generally considered to be more formal, but when they are made with prints and worn with a matching navy coat, they can also appear to be pretty preppy. On the other hand, straight ties appear more fashionable and vougish than the traditional bow tie. Straight ties also tend to look more modern than the ageless and old-school bow tie. Moreover, neckties are much more practical to wear as compared to bow ties, which is precisely the reason why majority of men prefer to wear neckties for work. In the current climate of saving money wherever possible, businesses may be tempted to cut corners on many aspects of their company expenses by, say, using second class post or even emailing clients rather than purchasing first class stamps as they once did, but, whilst some economies present a sensible business option to trimming costs, your office cleaning regime should not be subject to cutting expenses by cutting corners because it could lead to a detrimental impact on your business.
Your London office will benefit from a cleaning schedule that maintains a level of standards that has been proven to increase productivity in employees who feel valued by their employers because they provide a safe, hygienic and well ordered workplace within which to conduct business. Organizations are referred to as “culture-bearing milieus” because, among other properties, they convene regularly and provide opportunities for affiliation out of which may come sets of shared understandings that are relevant and distinctive to some groups (Louis, 1980). Many times, while working with organizations, I hear someone say, “What we’re really trying to do around here is to create a new culture.” – a culture of workshop, response etc. Creating a new culture is a lofty goal, and before starting on this difficult journey, there are many questions that should be answered.
The first question is obvious: What is our current culture? There are many ways to try to ascertain the answer, but we must use these methods with great care. Too often I find that the “cultural survey” an organization has performed is no more than a labor-intensive collection of opinions summarized, analyzed and plotted in so many ways that people start believing that the resulting amalgam actually contains facts. We must stop and remind ourselves of Institute for Healthcare Improvement President and CEO Don Berwick’s saying, “The plural of opinion is not data.”
